To provide free non-formal education opportunities to children studying in the grassroots public school in the Philippines.
Backpack of Life was founded in December 2016 through the initiative of Ms. Rowena Villareal. While traveling to Binangonan, Rizal, she passed by Barangay Libis and encountered families living in an underserved community. Recognizing the need to improve literacy among children and adults, she established a community-based literacy program aimed at enhancing reading skills and promoting access to quality education.
As the program grew, Backpack of Life expanded its mission by partnering with Libis Elementary School, enabling the organization to reach more children enrolled in the public school system. Through collaborations with various companies under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the organization has continued to provide educational support, learning resources, and volunteer-driven literacy activities.
Today, Backpack of Life remains committed to empowering children through education. The organization actively seeks dedicated volunteers and corporate partners who are willing to share their time, expertise, and resources to help deliver meaningful learning opportunities for the students of Libis Elementary School.
