Recreation Activities for Homeless Street Families and their Children

Children & Youth | Mar 19, 2016 | Volunteer Event

Jose Fabella Center (JFC) is a temporary shelter for strandees, vagrants, and mendicants. It has a bed capacity of 220. Most of the clients in the center were mostly reached - out from the streets. Upon admission to JFC, clients are provided with basic social welfare services and temporary shelter for 2 to 6 months. These families together with their children are assisted by Social Workers to Balik-Probinsiya, medical assistance, educational assistance, and other needs. While inside JFC, the children need recreational activities for them to regain their self-worth and self-esteem. On the other hand, there is also a call for participation of caregivers who are willing to assist in facilitating homelife services to families inside JFC. Jose Fabella Center also catered to families and their children from Tacloban City who were displaced during the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda in 2014.
