Volunteer Event
Are you ready to make a difference through the power of sport?
This International Women’s Day, Davao Durians Rugby Football Club is bringing everyone to the pitch! Our "Tara, Laro Tayo!" special session invites both boys and girls to play, learn, and grow together.
We believe that to achieve true equality, we need to start on the field—showing our youth that regardless of gender, we are all teammates. We need Ates, Kuyas, and Allies to lead this inclusive movement!
Sport can also be used as a tool to promote women’s education, improve women’s and girls’ leadership roles and their participation in decision-making. Women in leadership positions serve as role models; they provide encouragement and support for women and girls at all levels of sport. An increase of women leadership can have a positive impact on social attitudes towards expanding women’s competences within society. Concurrently, the broad sport participation of men and boys can be used to educate them on gender-related issues, such as violence against women and girls, or addressing stereotypical attitudes and behaviour about women. Also, participating in sports means ‘being physical’, which makes it easier for women and girls to talk about sensitive topics like sexuality and reproductive health.
Roles for Our Volunteers
We’re looking for a diverse team to mentor our young players (boys and girls alike):
Empowerment Coaches (All Genders): Lead co-ed drills that emphasize teamwork over gender stereotypes. Help the boys learn to be great allies and the girls to lead with confidence.
Ates & Kuyas (Mentors): Be the role models! Show the kids what healthy, respectful competition looks like. Your presence as a united front of volunteers is the best lesson they’ll get all day.
The "Unity" Crew: Help facilitate group discussions on Respect and Fair Play, ensuring every child feels valued and heard on the team.
Our Impact: The Global Goals
By bringing boys and girls together, we are tackling these UN Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 5: Gender Equality – Teaching boys to be allies and girls to be leaders from a young age.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Breaking down social barriers through inclusive, co-ed sports.
SDG 4: Quality Education – Providing life lessons in empathy, respect, and collaboration that stay with them forever.
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Strengthening our Davao community by playing as one team.
What to bring:
- Water
- Food for sharing (optional, but highly encouraged)
- Change of clothes
- Appropriate sport attire with trail/running/football shoes
- Optional: sunscreen, arm sleeves, cap
Join the Movement!
Equality isn't a "women's issue"—it's a human one. By volunteering, you’re helping us raise a generation that sees each other as equals, one pass at a time.
Let’s ruck, maul, and grow together! See you on the field!
