Be the Bridge!

Beyond the drills and the field, volunteering for our Rugby for Development outreach is an opportunity to be part of something bigger. In celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, we’re proving that a simple game can break down the toughest barriers.

Here’s why you should join the starting lineup:

1. Score for the Global Goals

You aren’t just leading a game; you’re an active contributor to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. From promoting Good Health (SDG 3) to fostering Peace and Justice (SDG 16), your afternoon of service has a global footprint.

2. Master the "Spirit of Rugby" 🏉

Rugby is unique because of its core values: Integrity, Passion, Solidarity, Discipline, and Respect. As a facilitator, you’ll help youth translate these "on-field" rules into "off-field" life skills, helping them navigate challenges long after the final whistle.

3. Build Real Connections (The "Bridge" Part!)

Our theme, "Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers," isn't just a catchy phrase. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Connect with youth from diverse backgrounds at the Foundation of Balay Pasilungan.
  • Network with fellow volunteers and community leaders in Davao who share your passion for social impact.
  • Mentorship: Experience the fulfillment of seeing a child’s confidence grow through sport.

4. Level Up Your Leadership 📈

Facilitating isn't just about coaching; it’s about communication, adaptability, and empathy. Whether you’re managing a group of energetic kids or guiding a discussion on peace-building, you’re sharpening professional skills that stand out in any field.

5. Be the Spark of Joy ✨

Let’s be honest—it’s fun! There is nothing quite like the energy of a sports outreach. You’ll leave the Foundation of Balay Pasilungan with a tired body but a very full heart, knowing you helped create a safe, joyful space for the youth of Davao.

What to bring:

  • Appropriate sports attire with rubber shoes
  • Drinking water and own food
  • Food for sharing (optional)
  • Change of clothes
  • Sunscreen, arm sleeves, cap (optional)
