Coastal Clean Up at Baseco, Manila

Clean Water & Sanitation, Environment & Sustainability, Volunteerism | Apr 25, 2026 | Volunteer Event

Join us as we head to Baseco, Manila for a meaningful Coastal Clean-Up — working together to protect our oceans and help keep the shores of Manila Bay clean and safe for the community.

Baseco Compound is a coastal community located in the Port Area of Manila, near the mouth of the Pasig River and along Manila Bay. The area occupies a reclaimed island commonly known as Engineer’s Island and is currently one of the most densely populated communities in the city.

The name “Baseco” originated from the Bataan Shipyard and Engineering Company (BASECO), which acquired the shipyard facilities in the area during the 1960s. Before becoming a residential community, the location functioned as a shipyard and docking area operated by the National Shipyard and Steel Corporation (NASSCO). Over time, workers and migrant families began settling near the shipyard, eventually forming the present-day community.

Because of its location along Manila Bay, Baseco plays an important role in protecting marine ecosystems. Through initiatives like coastal clean-ups, we aim to reduce marine litter, raise environmental awareness, and encourage collective responsibility in protecting our oceans.

HopeFULL Campaign - At We Lift Club, we firmly believe that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of Indigenous people. The 'HopeFULL Campaign' is an initiative designed to bring hope and support to teachers and students in Indigenous Communities. Our goal is to provide meaningful and inclusive educational opportunities that empower indigenous communities.

Through this campaign, we strive to ensure that every child has access to the necessary school supplies, free of charge, enabling them to pursue their education with enthusiasm and confidence. As part of our commitment, we have developed a culturally sensitive module that integrates indigenous knowledge and values. This module aims to encourage students to keep dreaming and embrace the richness of their heritage and the importance of environmental stewardship.
