About the Role

Every photograph has the power to change a mind, soften a heart, and shine a light on a life too often overlooked. That’s the spirit behind Photographers for Farmed Animals, a project that invites you to document the real lives of farmed animals through honest imagery and heartfelt captions. Selected pieces will be featured in a digital zine launching during Farmed Animal Welfare Week (October 3-9, 2026), with full credit for every contributor.

We’ll provide prompts, storytelling guides, and ethical practices to help you create work that respects and honors each animal. Your lens can give them something they rarely have: a chance to be seen.

Key Responsibilities

• Take original photographs of farmed animals based on AEP’s provided prompts and guidelines.
• Gather accurate background information about the animals photographed.
• Write a short caption or story to accompany each photograph.
• Secure the necessary consent or permission from animal caregivers, facilities, or property owners.
• Submit photographs and captions before the campaign period.
• Coordinate with the AEP team regarding clarifications, edits, or additional information.

What We’re Looking For

• Basic photography and visual storytelling skills.
• Access to a camera or a mobile phone capable of taking clear photographs.
• Sensitivity and respect when photographing animals and interacting with their caregivers.
• The ability to follow ethical photography and animal welfare guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate storytelling.

Professional photography experience is not required.

Expected Output

• A set of original photographs featuring farmed animals.
• A short caption or background story for each submitted photograph.
• Signed consent or confirmation of permission when required.
