Environment & Sustainability | Mar 30, 2013 | Volunteer Event

GreenEarth is operating on donated land that has been ravaged by decades of illegal deforestation. We have a lifelong mission to turn our land back into an Eden. We have an agricultural development plan and our farm manager and site administrator determines the treeplanting site and types of trees.

Because we are a certified organic farm, we prefer that the planted trees come from our own nursery. It takes us months to propagate our own seedlings the organic way.   This, plus clearing, cleaning, staking the treeplanting site and seedling care forward-going until they are sturdy enough to be on their own costs a lot of resources.  Our modest budget is 100 pesos per seedling to do all of the above.  Last year we spent a million pesos planting 10,000 seedlings and the cost of maintenance continues to make sure these seedlings become trees. Denuded land without a forest canopy makes it very stressful for fragile seedlings to survive the harsh elements--direct sunshine, lack of water, lack of adequate nutrients in the soil.  Care is necessary. Ten years from now, GreenEarth will become an oasis (or at least start to become one). Until such time, taking care of precious trees cost significant resources. This is the price for environmental destruction.

We hope we can enlist corporate or self-organized treeplanting volunteers to raise 100 pesos for every tree they wish to plant. This donation will go a long way for GreenEarth.  We will be self-sustaining one day.

Volunteer compliance requirements: When groups come for one day together, all we require is a waiver of liability. Please send us an email atcontactus@greenearthheritage.com for a copy of the waiver of liabilty and to coordinate schedule and logistics.
