About The Storytelling Project
The Storytelling Project (TSP) aims to spark hope, inspiration and imagination through storytelling; to make reading an enjoyable experience for children; to start a reading habit; and to instill the love of reading and learning in all our TSP kids. We’ve tirelessly crossed rivers and excitedly conquered mountains to reach remote communities – to bring our own brand of happy learning.
We help communities develop a culture of reading through our 3-phase program: IMAGINE. CREATE. SHARE.
IMAGINE - Build the kids’ imagination through the 21-Day Storytelling Program, storywriting sessions and empower the community through the trainings and seminars.
CREATE - Create avenues for exploring their newfound love for reading through the TSP Library Project.
SHARE - Share knowledge and experiences with the Community through the TSP Club.
Pagsawitan Elementary School Phase 1
From February 6 - 28, 2017, TSP volunteers will stay at Pagsawitan Elementary School to conduct daily storytelling sessions for Grade 3 students. We are accepting volunteers any day between these dates.
Storytelling Routine
During weekdays, storytelling sessions will happen inside the school. Our routine usually starts with songs and dances then a lead facilitator would tell the story for the day. Volunteers who want to do storytelling may do so at the given time. There will also be post-reading activities for the kids. Volunteers may choose to stay overnight at the school or for just 1 day.
During weekends, volunteers will be divided into clusters. Each cluster will do the routine in a public area near the students' homes. Some locations are near, some may require a bit of trekking. Volunteers may also choose to overnight at the school or for just 1 day
Schedule:
Daily storytelling sessions start at 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM.
Meeting time at the school is 10:00 AM to allow for preparation and/or trek to the location depending on which cluster you will choose, if on a weekend.
How to get there:
• Meeting place is at JAC Liner Buendia near LRT, 6:00AM. (Bus leaves every 30 minutes). TSP coordinator will be there during weekends. If not on a weekend, tell the conductor to drop you off at Pagsawitan near DLTB terminal.
