Kawayanihan 2017: Camp Kawayan

Environment & Sustainability | Sep 23, 2017 | Volunteer Event

Camp Kawayan is an exciting bamboo planting trail. This half day event hopes to gather around 4,000 volunteers from Metro Manila and CALABARZON along the riverbanks of San Mateo, Rizal (starting from Dulongbayan 1) for a massive bamboo planting activity on September 23, 2017 (6:00 A.M.).

Camp Kawayan aims to raise awareness about the benefits of bamboo, and to encourage community bamboo planting and growing as a way of climate change mitigation. It is the first time that an activity of this kind will be done in the country and it is hoped that this worthwhile initiative will become a yearly event, as part of the World Bamboo Day celebration.
