Make biodegradable pots for plants using old clothes/pants

Disaster Preparedness & Response | May 30, 2018 | Volunteer Event

Title:  Make biodegradable pots for plants using old clothes

Spend a morning with your family and friends making cloth pots for plants.  This is a fun activity using unusable clothes donated to the CDRC, sewing small pieces of fabric into a small pot then taking pics of your creation to post on FB!

Some clothes donated to the CDRC cannot be used by evacuees or disaster victims either because they are too damaged, out-of-fashion or cloth is unsuited for Philippine climate (too thin, too thick, too old).  Instead of throwing away these unwearable donated clothes and to be able to use them, CDRC is making them into small, biodegradable pots for plants.

What your family/group will do:
cut pattern from a prepared pattern of biopots
•  Cut cloth for biopots
•  sew biopots
•  design biopots

What to wear:
Comfortable T-shirt made of light material
Comfy pants or shorts - both not too tight so you can move comfortably

What to bring:
A water bottle to use for CDRC's water dispenser
Extra T-shirt
Big needle
Thick thread (for denims)
scissors
