Help us put our public schools on the map!

Education | Oct 31, 2018 | Volunteer Event

In cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd), CheckMySchool (CMS) Philippines has developed the school hardship index map. It currently has 44,751 schools on the map, 2,648 of which do not have proper GPS coordinates and plotted at 0,0. DepEd has started collecting GPS coordinates through “Mapaaralan”, but has not yet completed them. In recognition of the importance of geo-mapping our public schools, CMS will help collect and plot the coordinates of the identified 2,648 schools.

This geo-mapping effort is expected to improve the monitoring of the delivery of services for public schools, especially those located in the far-flung areas. It also enhances the transparency of government operations and performance.

We would need volunteers to help search these missing information online (through google search) then note and log key information in our standard form. More detailed instructions will be provided to those who will click the "VOLUNTEER" button. As a volunteer, you will be assigned with ~100 schools to research data online, and each school we estimate will need about 5 mins to complete. You can space out the work in different free time you have during a period of 1 week.

We are eager to get help from detailed-oriented and online-savy volunteers. You can do this work online (anywhere with internet connection!) and help out with this important project.
