Progressive Assistance Canada Charity (PAC) is a Canadian-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in the Philippines, seeking to alleviate the cycle of poverty in the most vulnerable and disenfranchised Filipino Barangays (communities). Addressing the root causes of the cycle of poverty, our programs are based on holistic systems-based approaches towards sustainable development.
Play And Catch-up (PCU), one of its programs, is designed for the group of learners that needs literacy enhancement the most - coming from different grade levels but are homogenized by common limitations as identified during the diagnostic examination.
By using an alternative teaching tool: play, our goal is to create a safe and fun learning environment where students can catch-up with the Filipino school curriculum. This program will give the students a greater chance of future success in the workforce and onto post-secondary education, by reducing drop-outs among this poor segment of the Filipino society.
During this pandemic, we are unable to resume with our weekly sessions onsite. Fortunately, through distance learning, we will be able to resume virtually for the time being.
