Write and Edit Stories of Resilience

Poverty Alleviation | May 30, 2015 | Volunteer Event

Love inspiring stories? If you like writing, help us write and edit stories of people making a difference!

Disasters happen because people are vulnerable, not only because of exposure to natural hazards but also because of socio-economic, political, and cultural systems. How do we prevent disasters? By building on their capacities to achieve resilience!

ACCORD is planning to release an e-book, "Portraits of Resilience," in time for the National Disaster Consciousness Month this July. It will be composed of stories about people, communities, and organizations who are making progress in building resilience to disasters. This e-book will be an important part of our advocacy work.

So where do you come in? We need writers who will help us craft these stories and make an impact on readers. We also need editors who will help us edit for grammar, coherence and structure. Guidance on story focus and additional information on the story subjects will be provided, but other than that, you are free to craft the story! Make it as impactful and interesting as you can. =)

We will have a "writeshop" for staff and volunteers this Saturday (May 30) from 10am to 5pm in our QC office. Modest lunch and snacks will be provided. It would be helpful if you can bring your own laptop.

This is your chance to flex your literary muscles and add your voice to those calling for a more resilient society. Come volunteer for us!

Sign-up now at bit.ly/accordvolunteerinfo. We will get back to you with more details shortly.
