Bakawan sa Isla Pulo: Clean-up Drive

Environment & Sustainability | Jul 26, 2015 | Volunteer Event

Lampara Literacy Movement is a Filipino-led young-focused organization committed to serve underprivileged and underrepresented communities by providing an alternative space to develop literacy. To culminate the Lampara Literacy Camp’s module on environmental protection and preservation, we are holding a coastal cleanup in Isla Pulo, Navotas, one of the only four mangrove-rich areas in Metro Manila. This activity aims to preserve the mangroves in the area by cleaning its surroundings. Through this collective effort, we believe that Isla Pulo can be a better place again.

We encourage everyone to bring their own cleaning materials. (sack for trash, gloves, bottled water, alcohol, etc.)

Reminders: If it's your first time going to the area, here are some directions on how to go at the meeting place:

From Recto: Ride a jeepney bound to Gasak, drop off to Hulong Duhat (landmark is Jollibee).

From Monumento: Ride a jeepney headed to Hulo, drop off to Hulong Duhat.

From EDSA: Ride a bus with a signboard UE LETRE, drop off to Letre (landmark is Malabon CitiSquare), ride a jeepney bound to Gasak, drop off to Jollibee.
