Disaster Preparedness & Response, Education | Jul 01, 2023 | Volunteer Event

The Philippines experience almost all of types of natural-induced hazards such as typhoon, flooding, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions to name a few. Part of the CDRC advocacy work on climate change and disaster risk reduction is raising awareness on Community-based Disaster Management and other related issues to community development work. One way of raising awareness is posting educational materials on social media.

What can I do?

You can use your skills on graphics and illustration by being a CDRC volunteer! Social media made raising awareness in disaster management easier. CDRC have rich collection of materials for awareness raising, however some of the materials need updating in terms of its graphic design. It also needs to be designed to be more specialized with different sectors (e.g. youth, workers, farmers, academe, international audience, etc.)

Graphic Artist will:

  1. Pitch ideas on how to visually execute the updating of educational content according to the platform that could help with CDRC’s advocacy
  2. Pitch ideas on educational materials to be produced for specialized infographics for different sectors
  3. Update and create educational materials about disaster risk reduction and management.

How can I be a volunteer graphic artist/designer?

It’s very easy! Just attend our online orientation on ____________.

Each volunteer will be given a specific project/topic to do layouting/illustration for each educational material. Each will have a month to finish a project. It will depend on your availability. We will schedule everything after the orientation.

What do I need?

A working knowledge on Canva, skilled in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus.

Laptop or desktop and internet connection to connect to zoom and social media.

An open mind and lots of enthusiasm will help keep you going!

What do I get for being a CDRC volunteer?

As a CDRC volunteer, you will be able to help increase the disaster preparedness capacity of vulnerable sectors and thus contribute to strengthening disaster resilient communities. Aside from being able to help vulnerable sectors even before disasters happen, volunteers will be able to attend a Disaster Management Orientation and earthquake preparedness orientation, all for free. You can learn more and be prepared for disasters, for free!
