Writing About Books with Bookbed

Bookbed is a Filipino book community and a volunteer-based organization.

 

Our goals are:

1. to help promote and support the book industry, and

2. to provide platforms and opportunities to book reviewers, authors, artists, editors, and storytellers.

 

We are looking for regular contributors (book reviewers and feature writers) for our website (https://bookbed.org).

 

Book Reviewer

Qualifications

  • Can be of any age, gender, educational background, and socioeconomic status
  • Must be passionate about reading and writing about books
  • Must be willing to contribute at least six (6) reviews in three months (two (2) reviews per month) to become a regular contributor

General Terms

  • A book reviewer will receive training and/or a handbook where they can learn about how to write for Bookbed.
  • A book reviewer may review any book they wish. But they must first pitch the title/s to Bookbed for approval.
  • A book reviewer may choose from the Bookbed Review Requests list whenever available.
  • A book reviewer may be assigned books to review, and/or events to attend.
  • A book reviewer may share or post their reviews elsewhere. But, they are encouraged to state that their reviews originally appeared on Bookbed.org.
  • A book reviewer owns the copyrights to their work. Their reviews will always belong to them, and they can decide whether to remove or delete the reviews from the website. Before this happens, they should communicate and discuss their decision or plans with Bookbed.

As a regular Bookbed contributor, a book reviewer

  • will learn how to talk about books in different ways;
  • may request ARCs, books, and/or reading materials in connection to their work for Bookbed;
  • attend book-related events in connection to their work for Bookbed;
  • pitch content and project ideas for future implementation; and
  • represent Bookbed in approved book-related activities.
     

Feature Writer
 

Qualifications

  • Can be of any age, gender, educational background, and socioeconomic status
  • Must be passionate about reading and writing about books and book-related events, people, places, and others
  • Must be willing to work with a team, editor, and fellow writer/s
  • Must be willing to contribute at least three (3) features in three months (one feature per month) to become a regular contributor

General Terms

  • A feature writer will receive training and/or a handbook where they can learn about how to write for Bookbed.
  • A feature writer may write about any book-related content they wish. But they must first pitch the idea/s to Bookbed for approval.
  • A feature writer may choose what kind of content they want to contribute based on the Bookbed categories.
  • A feature writer may also be assigned books or people to feature or interview, and/or events to attend.
  • A feature writer may share or post their content elsewhere. But, they are encouraged to state that their reviews originally appeared on Bookbed.org.
  • A feature writer owns the copyrights to their work. Their content will always belong to them, and they can decide whether to remove or delete them from the website. Before this happens, they should communicate and discuss their decision or plans with Bookbed.

As a regular Bookbed contributor, a feature writer:

  • will learn how to talk about book-related content in different ways;
  • interview authors, artists, and other book-related individuals or groups in connection to their work for Bookbed;
  • attend book-related events in connection to their work for Bookbed;
  • pitch content and project ideas for future implementation; and
  • represent Bookbed in approved book-related activities.

Please note that terms and conditions will be further discussed once an individual has become a regular contributor.
