Who is the ‘2KK Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid’?

2KK Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid is a volunteer organization whose mission is to empower less- privileged youth through education. What it means to be part of the organization is "to help our fellow brothers and sisters".

2KK was founded on the spirit of helping one another through kindness and love. After a landslide in Payatas, the largest dumpsite in Metro Manila, hit the community living in the area in 2003, a group of teenagers set out to see how they could help. Gathering the young children in the community, the group would carry out activities such as games, song and dance, and tutoring. Over the years, the volunteers and community members formed a bond, and since then, charitable activities have answered community needs, their highest priority being education.

2KK formed two (2) programs to respond to this specific need:

(1) the Kapatid Program, which is a weekly values formation session for children from kinder to grade school, with volunteers teaching “life lessons” to their younger “kapatids,” and;

(2) the Yaman Ang Pag-aralin Ang Kabataan (Yapak) Scholarships Program, formed when Kapatid tutees insisted that they wanted to finish their schooling. The scholarship has since produced high school and college graduates, some of whom are the first in their family to attain this level of education. The scholars now number at 75 from the initial seven (7) scholars of the program. With mentorship, the Yapak scholars now have leadership roles within the organization and are seen as role models to the younger members of the community, paying back the community through their love and service to their fellow Kapatids.

What is the 2KK Kapatid Program?

Kapatid is the educational arm of 2KK. It focuses on organizing activities for over 120 children (40 per community) in our partner communities in Payatas, Sampaloc, and Smokey Mountain. The Kapatid sessions are held weekly and primarily focus on teaching values formation through our 6 Kap Loves.

Volunteers at the Kapatid Session will serve as the ates and kuyas to help the tutees with the story and activity (divided into smaller groups). You will be given a copy of the story and the module as the guide (similar to a lesson plan). Additionally, there will be facilitators (YAPAK Leaders/Scholars) from 2KK that will lead the session from start to end. Everyone is welcome to join and volunteer with us! (no experience required)
