Dear VolunTutor, We are happy to meet you! We hope you can come join us and make a difference in the lives of street children! WHO: We are tutoring scholars of He Cares Foundation. They are trying to maintain a certain grade average to remain in the program. They live in informal settler communities. WHAT: We will teach basic English and Math. We will have materials that we can use to practice their skills (books, worksheets, etc) and we will have an orientation and setup at 1 to 2PM. Tutoring is only 1 hour (from 2-3PM) WHY: Our goal is to encourage the children to stay in school and to build their confidence that they can do it. Many of them are really smart and talented but they face tremendous challenges due to their environment, preventing them to even want to continue schooling. HOW: We will help you with the different ways to tutor the child. From playing the dictionary game, to spelling, to multiplication drills.
