Volunteer Event
The ability to read is a fundamental right, yet many young Filipino children struggle to grasp this essential skill. At Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. (BINHI), we're working to change that, one child at a time. As a Volunteer Storyteller, your voice can help us increase the appreciation for teachers on International World Teachers' Day.
About the Project
Founded in 2008, BINHI aims to improve English reading skills among identified non- and frustrated readers, aged 5-8, in public elementary schools and community centers through its 100-day free reading program.
As a volunteer storyteller, you'll share a story about the vital role teachers play in our society. You can do this by either recording a video for your social media or reading in person to a group of your choice.
Qualifications and Requirements
We're looking for individuals who are:
- Passionate advocates for literacy.
- Able to listen and pay attention to important details.
- Creative and able to engage a young audience.
- Willing to commit at least 2-3 hours of their time for the orientation, preparation, and the actual storytelling
- Can work remotely with minimal supervision.
- Must have a gadget and access to a stable internet connection
BINHI will provide a list of books for use. The stories will be for children ages 5-8.
