All Together in Dignity (ATD) Fourth World is an international non-governmental organization with no religious or political affiliation who works with individuals and institutions to find solutions to eradicate extreme poverty. Working in partnership with people in poverty, ATD Fourth World’s human rights-based approach focuses on supporting families and individuals through its grass-roots presence and involvement in disadvantaged communities, in both urban and rural areas. It creates public awareness of extreme poverty and influence policies to address it. (https://www.facebook.com/ATD.Philippines/

Ang Galing is the tutorial program of ATD Fourth World Philippines for children learners(6 y old and above) who don't know how to read and write in Tagalog. Through one-on-one sessions and informal personalized teaching with games, we help the learners to rediscover that learning can be fun and to rediscover that they are as intelligent as everyone. Ang Galing also supports the educational efforts of the parents and is in link with the schools where the learners are enrolled. In volunteering, there is no additional requirement and no other processing to be done. Because the tutorial session length can vary from 5 mins. to less than an hour,( it depends on how long a learner's span of attention and interest in the activity is sustained)be prepared to tutor more than one learner. We adjust to the learner's learning pace. Keep the session light and fun. Try varied activities meant to enhance reading and writing skills such as memory games, tactile materials such as letter cutouts from sandpaper, puzzles and playing with clay. (We do not teach Math and the alphabet the abakada way.)

Change of schedules, news and updates will be posted on the latest Ang Galing event page in FB. (Check out ATD page to see if one had already been created.)

There will be an orientation before the sessions start. Please bring your water bottle. In rainy season, the cemetery entrance may get flooded. Please wear adequate protection for your feet. You may also decide to take the tricycle. Make sure that the driver knows the venue and agrees to the P20 fare before taking the tricycle.
